Arts Council Creates Hanley Arts Fund
On Monday, April 17th, 2006, the Executive Committee of GCAC's Board of Trustees unanimously voted to create the Hanley Arts Fund, to be used for supporting the work of individual artists. Hanley, who died tragically on Easter Sunday, maintained a life-long commitment to supporting the work of individual artists.
"Ray really believed that individual artists are crucial to the vitality of our cultural community," said
Mark Corna, Chair of GCAC's Board of Trustees. "The Individual Artist Fellowships, our international artist
exchange with Germany, the Business Arts Partnership awards—these programs and many others exist because
Ray cared about providing opportunities for artists."
To date the Fund has received more than $4,000 in donations, with more pouring in everyday.
