Research Symposium, Public Forum to Highlight Direction for Arts Going Into 2012 Bicentennial
Join the Greater Columbus Arts Council October 11-12 at the Columbus State Community College's Center for Workforce Development for Arts & Culture in Columbus: Moving Forward, a symposium to examine current research and discuss collaborative approaches to community issues as we move toward the city's bicentennial and beyond.
Columbus' nonprofit arts industry generates $330 million in spending each year, along with $16 million in local tax revenue. That's big business, and in light of recent local and national research on the arts in Columbus, it's time to take a look at where this important industry is now, and where it's going.
Together with community leaders from the business, civic and arts sectors, GCAC will look at how to research into action, the role that arts education can play in our community, how to build a thriving artist population in central Ohio and more.
The symposium will include the 2007 GCAC Public Forum, which will highlight the city's plans to include the arts in its 2012 bicentennial initiative. GCAC Board members and President Bryan W. Knicely will be available for questions from the audience following the presentation.
Arts & Culture in Columbus: Moving Forward is $100 to attend ($25 for students and staff members of organizations with a budget smaller than $500,000). Registration includes a continental breakfast on October 11 and lunch October 11 and 12. Tickets to the Public Forum only are $25 with lunch, or free without lunch.
