Six New Artists-in-Schools Artists Showcased at 2007 Artist Preview Night
Educators, school administrators and advocates of arts education are invited to learn more about arts education opportunities for central Ohio classrooms at the Greater Columbus Arts Council's 2007 Artist Preview Night from 3:30-6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, September 18 at Veterans Memorial, 300 W. Broad Street.
This free event will showcase the talents of nearly 100 artists who participate in GCAC's Artists-in-Schools program. Artists-in-Schools links professional artists and arts groups with K-12 schools and community groups, as well as private sector businesses, organizations and individuals. Artist services may include performances, lectures, workshops, master classes, readings and multi-disciplinary experiences. Artists-in-Schools is sponsored by the Franklin County Board of Commissioners.
This year's program will feature six new artists:
- Kevin Cordi (storytelling)
- Sogbety Diomande (drumming/dance)
- Anthony Lamar Gibbs (historical storytelling)
- Brian Holland (music with Hip Hop emphasis)
- Russell Merritt (drawing/cartooning)
- Vocal Impact (Jazz music)
Artists-in-Schools is a component of GCAC's Community Arts Education Program. As one of GCAC's longest running programs, Artists-in-Schools has brought hundreds of thousands of individuals in contact with professional teaching artists. Professional artists are available in the following disciplines to complement and enhance arts education programs: Dance and Movement Arts; Literary Arts; Multi-disciplinary Arts; Music; Theatre; and Visual Arts.
