ArtZine Wins National Award

WOSU TV's ArtZine, sponsored by the Greater Columbus Arts Council, took top honors in January at the 2007 National Educational Telecommunications Association (NETA) conference in Norfolk, Va. ArtZine, an arts television show produced by WOSU Public Media with the support of GCAC, won an award in the large market information programming category.
PBS president Paula Kerger emceed the ceremony, and NETA board chair John King presented trophies in the areas of program production, promotion, outreach, and instructional media. According to a NETA press release, the judges said ArtZine "succeeds in making the connection between the producer's idea, the camera person's view, the artist's work, and the viewer's experience."
Produced by WOSU TV's Cindy Gaillard and Forest Godsey, ArtZine is a television magazine featuring local art organizations, activities and artists. It is a unique collaboration between WOSU and GCAC designed to develop greater appreciation of the cultural opportunities available in central Ohio. ArtZine strives to show the process behind exhibitions, festivals, and productions. Features have included the Columbus Arts Festival, musicians, muralists, sculptors, painters, mimes and actors.
"ArtZine is truly a labor of love," said Executive Producer Cindy Gaillard. "The stories we find are only possible with the blessing and enthusiasm of GCAC. This is a real honor."
