GCAC Awards Over $40,000 To Area Organizations Through Franklin County Neighborhood Arts Program
Ashland Inc. and Franklin County Board of Commissioners renew sponsorships
The Greater Columbus Arts Council awarded a total of $41,246 to 30 organizations during its 3rd round of grants for the 2006 Franklin County Neighborhood Arts program, an initiative designed to increase community participation in the arts throughout Franklin County. Grants were awarded in December.
The Franklin County Neighborhood Arts program assists neighborhood and community groups including amateur and avocational, traditional arts organizations, civic and neighborhood associations, guilds, social service organizations, youth centered and cultural organizations with specific arts projects in all disciplines, provided they are offered to the public. Programming that actively provides access to the arts for people of all cultural backgrounds, economic status, sexual orientation, age and physical ability receives priority consideration.
Ashland Inc. and the Franklin County Board of the Commissioners have renewed their generous sponsorships of this program for 2007.
"We are grateful to Ashland, Inc. and the Franklin County Board of Commissioners, who recognize the importance of funding these special projects," said Tim Katz, GCAC Director of Community Arts Education. "Their support is vital to the success of this unique program."
