School's Out Days

School is out, but the J is in! From 9:00-3:30 your child can spend an exciting day at the JCC and on a fun field trip! Early care is available at 8:00 am and after care until 6:00 pm for an additional fee. Please send your child with a swim suit, towel, dairy lunch and a drink. Cancellation policy: refunds will only be issued for cancellations made 24 hours in advance of the program start time.

10/19 – Circleville Pumpkin Festival

Join the JCC as we celebrate autumn at the Circleville Pumpkin Festival. We will enjoy rides, fall crafts, and of course pumpkins! (All participants will receive an unlimited ride wrist band) We may even get to see the world's largest pumpkin pie! Then we will return to the JCC for swimming! Participants must arrive between 8:45-9:00 so we can leave for the Pumpkin Festival no later than 9:15.

Northeast School's Out Day
October 19th

School is out for New Albany, Gahanna and CJDS so travel to the College Avenue J to join up with your friends as we travel to the Circleville Pumpkin Show! Everyone will enjoy rides, fall crafts and of course pumpkins! (All participants will receive an unlimited ride wrist band) We may even get to see the world's largest pumpkin pie! Then we will return to the JCC for swimming!

Bus pick up at 8:15am at CJDS and bus drop off at 4:00pm at CJDS

10/19 – Circleville Pumpkin Festival

Northeast participants will be transported by a staffed JCC bus to the JCC to meet up with all School's Out Day participants. All participants must have a JCC Emergency Contact form on file (request by e-mail to svail@columbusjcc.org).

Magic

Carroll Baker is back for another magical year at the JCC! Participants' will get to learn amazing NEW tricks from Carroll, a regular performer at Max & Erma's restaurants. All children will receive a magic kit to take home that includes a magic wand to help with mini-illusions. There is an 8 participant minimum to run this class.

Youth Circuit Training

This class will be part of the group exercise programs offered at the JCC. Ben Brant, a Certified Personal Trainer and JCC Recreation Supervisor, will teach this class that looks to introduce exercises that are fun but challenging. The circuit format will allow the participants to rotate to different stations that work on different muscle groups. The class will use a variety of equipment that will be safe to participants of all ages. You can join in on this class at any time!

Tuesdays:

Guitar

Steven Loeb is returning this year to offer guitar lessons. Prior experience is not required; these lessons are great for beginners and experienced players alike. Lessons will last for 30 minutes.

Grades: 2nd and up

NFL Flag Football

Come and learn the fundamentals of flag football through the NFL Flag Football Program. This is an eight week program that will teach the children different skills and give them the opportunity to play a lot of games. All the equipment is provided. Games are played on marked fields behind the JCC. In case of bad weather games will be played in the gym. All participants in this program will also get to do the NFL Punt, Pass, and Kick Contest.

Grades: 1st-6th

Wednesdays:

Fun with Food 3

Join your friends at the JCC as you learn to make some delicious after school snacks and meals! Students will learn to prepare delicious and healthy dishes. Each participant will receive a recipe book so they can practice at home. This class will feature all NEW recipes from Fun with Food 1 and 2 as well as Cooking Camp.

Day: Wednesdays, October 10th - December 12th (No class on 10/31 or 11/21).

Junior Fitness Club

Ben Brant, a Certified Personal Trainer and JCC Recreation Supervisor, will teach this new exercise class. This class will teach the participants how to use the cardiovascular equipment and weight machines. The goal is to have the participants have an idea how to set up their own exercise program using weights and cardiovascular exercises. Nutrition and its importance on developing a healthy lifestyle will be discussed. Upon completion of this class, and a written test, the participants will be allowed to use the equipment in the Diamond Family Fitness Center under the supervision of their guardian.

Thursdays:

Tae Kwan Do

This class is perfect for beginner Taekwondo boys and girls. This traditional Korean martial arts class will be taught by Ernie Reyes' World Martial Arts Association. Taekwondo promotes self esteem building and self discipline. Fee includes nine sessions of taekwondo and a celebration/rewards day featuring each student breaking a board and receiving a taekwondo present. Uniforms are not required, but can be purchased upon request.

Saturday Night at the J!

Be cool and spend your Saturday night at the coolest place- the JCC! "Saturday Nights at the J" is pleased to offer childcare on one Saturday night each month for children ages 3-12. Participants will be divided into age appropriate groups and participate in activities and games accordingly. Don't forget your swim suit and towel, because swimming will be a part of each Saturday night activity!

October 27th - Sukkot Celebration

Sukkot may be over, but our fun is not. The JCC will be celebrating Sukkot by making edible sukkahs and other fun activities including swimming and ice cream, so come ready for night of fun, friends and lots of sweet treats!!!!

Bored on a Saturday night? Come to Dinner and a Move at JCC North and have a blast while you watch a movie and eat a pizza dinner! In addition to dinner and a movie we will also participate in amazingly FUN activities and indulge in scrumptious desserts! All 3-12 year olds are invited for a night of fun!

October 13th - Monster House

Come to the JCC North for some serious SCARE-rific fun as we watch the spooky movie Monster House and create our favorite scariest arts and crafts while having yummy pizza and delicious ice cream!!!!

Fall Swim Lessons

Fall swimming lessons begin Sunday, Sept. 9th and run through November 28th. Sports Specific Training

Are you looking to get an advantage for your upcoming sports season? If so, please contact Ben Brant at 559-6286 or email bbrant@columbusjcc.org to get a sport specific training program set up. The group will meet weekly and will perform exercises that are important for your sport of choice. Non-members are allowed but will pay an additional cost to partake in the class. A minimum of 3 participants must be signed up in order for the class to take place.
